Single day I was captivating photos around Lisbon, plus I came across some good-looking stone statue in the middle of lakes set in a few of the city’s the majority good-looking parks. Later, I came across another fountain in a square, which had three of those classic angel-like figures standing underneath. Taking this photo as reference, location it in the mood I had witnessed before at the park and adding a malevolent twist I decided to create the painting entitled “Fountain of Hell”.

I open up a fresh canvas in Adobe Photoshop by the A4 preset dimension. By the photo (image 1) as reference, I quickly painted the whole canvas with a medium grey hard-edged brush, trying not to leave any white areas under (image 2). This step helps receiving an overall balance of value in the painting. It’s important to obtain a hint of every one the elements into the canvas early in the painting procedure, so to they can then be continually refined simultaneously and in relation to every additional.

I meant for a reddish color-scheme with small deviations to fair in the lighter areas plus purple in the shadows. To achieve this, I painted in the colors on a original layer set to “Color” mode, retaining all the value information below (image 3). I picked out some of the main hues plus made a little color palette directly in the canvas. This help me in maintaining color harmony by forever color-picking from the same source. This is important in the near the beginning stages, but later on every one the colors can be picked up from some part of the painted image. I after that started detailing the foremost shape so I could obtain an early idea of what the painting process on the additional two figures was going to be. I mainly second-hand hard-edged brushes for the initial block-in plus after that I continuously decreased the brush’s hardness, size plus opacity. This be able to be a slow process and be supposed to be done patiently. Most of the era I have to do several painting “passages” to get to the point where I am satisfied, especially by smooth textures.
